The place
Smuksjøseter Fjellstue is beautifully situated in the mountains at 1130 m above sea level, surrounded by the magnificent mountains of Rondane. Smuksjøseter was originally a farm and has been run as a mountain lodge for two generations. Here you will find 23 rooms and apartments, saunas, a heated ski room and a café. Guests can enjoy good homemade food with locally sourced ingredients.
Smuksjøseter is a modern mountain lodge with shower, WC and broadband in all rooms. We have a new extension with 11 rental apartments with kitchen, refrigerator, dishwasher and TV. You can also stay overnight in the popular Arctic Dome Rondane – a completely unique experience on the border of the national park where comfort and nature meet.
The lodge is located approx. 300 meters from the border of Rondane National Park – an eldorado for hikers both summer and winter. Here you will find everything from easy hikes suitable for everyone to peaks over 2000 meters. The hiking trails are clearly marked with signs. In winter there are 150 km of well-groomed ski slopes.

The hosts
Smuksjøseter is a family-run mountain lodge and has been for two generations in the Skaugen family. In the beginning there were only three bedrooms sharing one heater in the hallway, but over the years they have expanded to include new rooms, apartments, a café, saunas and ski storage, to name a few, and have become the modern mountain lodge it is today.

- Formokampen: At 1428 meters above sea level, this is a popular hiking destination with views of Rondane, Jotunheimen and Dovrefjell.
- Tours with a local guide: Join experienced guides on a tour who share their knowledge and their favorite places. Adapted to the wishes and needs of the participants.
Winter

In summer you can drive all the way to Smuksjøseter, in winter you can drive by tracked vehicle with daily departures from Høvringen or go skiing.
