The place
We are located in Skurdalen, one of Norway’s highest villages, 850 meters above sea level. On the sunny slope and with a panoramic view of the Hardangervidda plateau, you have every opportunity to enjoy yourself, summer and winter. In the summer, with blue water, mountain flowers and pine-covered slopes, paths, cycle paths, hiking terrain, fishing lakes… In short; nature experiences right outside the hotel!

In the fireplace room there is always a fire in the fireplace. Here there is a cozy bar and dancing to live music on some weekends.
In the lounge, with a fantastic view of Holmevannet and the Hardangervidda plateau, you can relax with a book, have a cup of coffee or tea, or something else… and feel the peace sink deep into your soul, away from the hustle and bustle.

The hosts
Lia Fjellhotell is a family business run by Bjørg and Knut-Arne Lia and their children Ola and Ingeborg. The hotel started as a guest house in 1957 by Knut-Arne’s father and was called Lia Pensjonat until 1979/80. The new name was then Lia Fjellstue, later also a motel. In 2006 the name was changed to Lia Fjellhotell. As the years went by, there were extensions and additions. Today the hotel appears as a traditional hotel, with 20 family rooms, 12 double rooms, 5 single rooms and 10 mountain suites. The hotel is a popular meeting place for companies, teams and associations. Year after year we have had the pleasure of welcoming many large and small companies and clubs. Norway’s largest airline always holds its annual winter event here. Last but not least, we greatly appreciate all the regular guests who come to us, year after year. The food at Lia is widely known. It is Bjørg who puts his “soul” into the cooking. Everything produced in the kitchen is
homemade. And food is important for well-being, Bjørg knows that!

Summer/autumn
- Summer is beautiful here in Skurdalen, with green fields and colorful flowers, blue water and pine-covered slopes that stretch up towards the Hardangervidda plateau. Here you will find nice cycle paths, great hiking terrain for hikers, fishing lakes, recreation for body and soul and good food experiences. With Lia Fjellhotell as a starting point, there is a wide range of experiences for all age groups in our area and in our neighboring municipalities. Winter
- Lia Fjellhotell has a wide range of activities during the winter season that satisfy young and old, at all levels of ambition.
Outdoors, nature experiences are in store. Miles of well-groomed ski trails wind through forest terrain and on the plateaus.
Lia Ski Center is located next door to the hotel, where the alpine resort has three slopes and its own toboggan run of 1200 meters. The ski lift is 750 meters long, with a height difference of 160 meters. Both the ski lift and the slopes are family and child-friendly, even for the youngest. The ski center has its own sledges designed for the toboggan run, which is incredibly fun for both adults and children. At the ski center you can rent slalom skis, snowboards and snowshoes, in addition to sledges.
At Lia Fjellhotell you can leave your car, strap on your skis right outside the hotel door! Here you will also find a 3 kilometer long illuminated trail.
