The place
At the Danish-owned mountain lodge you are greeted with an informal atmosphere and a pleasant atmosphere in the fireplace lounges. The fireplace lounges are simply furnished in Danish design.
We have several different accommodation options, both in modern furnished hotel rooms and small Norwegian log cabins.
A winter or summer holiday at Kvitåvatn Fjellstue offers fantastic nature experiences and coziness with the family.
The hosts
Kvitåvatn Fjellstue is run by the Danish host couple Susanne and Martin Schade Kissow. Since 1993, Kvitåvatn Fjellstue has been owned by 160 Danish shareholders. Susanne and Martin moved to the mountains in the summer of 2019, and together with their staff are ready to welcome you to a pleasant stay.

Ørnenipa - The oldest cable car in the Nordic countries: Use Krossobanen, which opened in 1929, to get up to Gvepseborg and Hardangervidda and Gvepseborg Café.
Rjukan klatrerpark is located at the top of Krossobanen.
Avstand fra fjellstua: 19 km. - Canoeing and kayaking and other outdoor activities: As a guest at the lodge, you can borrow our canoes and kayaks, ring games, outdoor yatzy, king games and ladder golf for free.
Gaustabanen to Gaustatoppen. Experience the Gaustabanen from 1959, which runs inside the mountain to the highest point in Southern Norway. Distance from the lodge: 6.5 km - Vemork Industrial Museum and Tungtvannskjelleren. See the story of Rjukan’s origins or experience the heavy water cellar that was excavated in 2019.

Winter
- Cross-country skiing in beautiful surroundings 120 km of groomed cross-country trails with varying degrees of difficulty.
- Gausta Ski Center with 13 lifts and 35 slopes. 400 meters from the mountain lodge

- Off-piste at Gausta with several degrees of difficulty Take the track up, buy a waffle at the kiosk and drive off-piste down, for both beginners and advanced skiers.
