The place
An unknown gem of an accommodation at the foot of Reineskarvet.
The mountain lodge is located at 1100 m above sea level in the municipality of Ål, halfway between Oslo and Bergen. We have 30 guest rooms and a dining room with space for 60-70 people. The mountain lodge faces south and has good sun conditions all day. This establishes a valuable resting pulse, for example with coffee and waffles on the terrace.
The place is well known in the kite community and kiteskolen.no has kite courses from Christmas to May 1. There are 150 km of machine-prepared ski slopes in the area, ski in – ski out.
In the summer it is possible to fish in Bersjøen or in one of the area’s twenty well-managed trout lakes, this with a guarantee of fishing success. There are also opportunities to rent kayaks, canoes, rowboats and bicycles.
The hiking opportunities in the area are many, and you can go all the way up to 1800 m above sea level. or inland into Skarvheimen.
The popular panoramic sauna in the yard is highly recommended – up to 80 degrees C, if you want.
The host
Kåre Berg, also known as “Bergsjøkongen”, is the third driver in the family and owner of the mountain lodge that his parents Solveig and Sigurd built in 1959.

Bike ride to Fagerdalen farm where Anne Lise offers homemade sour cream porridge and other farm food. 17 km one way in beautiful high mountain terrain and little car traffic. www.fagerdalen.com
There are opportunities to rent Icelandic horses for day/half day trips
Winter
Kite courses. Bergsjøstølen and kiteskolen.no have collaborated for 15 years, and have perhaps the best experience in kite courses in the country. Courses are held every weekend from Christmas to May 1.

Several of the trains correspond with a regular bus to Bergsjøstølen, or you can book a hotel car.
